We are the sole airport operator and air navigation services operator in the Kingdom of Tonga. Our business encompasses six airports which account for some 250,000 passenger movements annually and an airspace with an area of 892,921 sq km extending from sea level to 24,500 feet above mean sea level. Safety is an on-going priority for TAL and remains the utmost concern for all TAL operations.
We are continually upgrading our airports to offer improved customers facilities while ensuring they remain fully compliant with all international regulations. By doing so we aim to encourage increased passenger traffic and aircraft movements and thereby contribute to the growth and development of the nation.
Tonga Airports Limited is a team of over 200 dedicated & skilled people, spread over six islands, committed to the safety and enjoyment of the traveling public. We look forward to providing all travellers with services of an international standard, and greeting them in true Tongan style.
Tonga Airports Limited was established on July 2nd 2007, under the governing legislation of the Public Enterprises Act 2002, and the authority granted by the Instrument of Delegation under section 5 of the Civil Aviation Act 1990.
TAL operates the 6 airports of Tonga, and is held accountable to the standards and regulations of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, to New Zealand Civil Aviation laws and the International Civil Aviation Organization guidelines. It is a member of the Airports Council International.
