TAL's Bird Management Program has been praised by Air New
Zealand which has recorded a significant reduction in bird strikes and
reported near strikes at Fua'amotu Airport.
Bird strikes are a problem for aircrafts as even minor damage
can lead to significant expense for operators - not only for repairs
but in revenue loss.
As bird strikes most commonly occur during take-off or
landing, or during low altitude flights, airport operators are
encouraged to adopt bird hazard management programs.
